This question requires an explanation of the two sides of our life energy. The first side is called the “sustentive” side and it is responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the body. Naturopathy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage, rolfing, nutrition, etc all address problems that reside in our sustentive power and can be used to improve our health on one level.
The second side of our life energy, called the “generative” side is different. This side goes beyond homeostasis to generating new cells, new ideas and even new disease states. It is the generative side of our life energy that is affected when we contract a contagious disease or when cancer cells develop, for example. The underlying causes of many symptoms and conditions reside in this generative side of our life energy. The unique power of Heilkunst resides in its ability to improve the health of the generative side of our life energy.
This does not mean that these other options for complementary medicine are not useful. They can be very helpful, and may even be recommended at one point in your treatment by your Heilkunst practitioner. The key idea to remember is that they are operating on the sustentive side only. Heilkunst is a good place to start treatment, because Heilkunst incorporates an understanding of both sides of our life energy.
